Night Time Wonders
The sun falls under the moon as its light begins to shine
wind in my hair skating past reflecting signs
we are living the teenage dream forgetting everything for a few
as we lay under the illuminated sky and take in the view
spotting Sirius, Rohini, and even the Vega star
digesting the beauty while listening to passing cars
the breeze grabs my lips and pulls out a smile
a look I haven’t been able to pull off for a while
I consume the moment, soaking it in like a sponge
letting the anxiety go, wishing to expunge
pretending the bliss won’t fade as the night grows old
so I grab the moment, put it in my palm, and turn it into gold
repeating the memory in my head wishing to relive and restart
because the moment lights the burned-out fire in my heart

One of my favorite memories from this past summer was lying on an open field and staring at the stars with a few of my friends.
