Through the Asphalt Top
A seed that sleeps beneath the asphalt top;
Through cracks, awaken, struck by rays of Light.
These gaps collect the dew high heavens drop;
A sprout, new life,with purposes incite.
O Delicate sapling! What strength thine own?
Such small, sensitive twig, a stem so frail.
No might possessed, how’er not left alone;
Through mercy, o’er the fort’fied stone prevail.
Safe shrub, all feet and rigs are directed;
Compassion leads thy predators astray.
Harsh winds and storms, through kindness, reflected;
The sun’s scorch not, no wither nor decay.
Due time, there stands a solid old oak tree;
Yet still relies on th’grace of God to be.
