A Sonnet of Friendship

A friend was a friend a long time ago
we shared many memories together
but sometimes our friends just get up and go
growing apart over time, me and her

trying to make things fall back into place
takes a lot of effort from both of us
having to take it all at a slow pace
trying hard to gain back each other’s trust

conversations aren’t the same anymore
both of us changing over the years
challenging life ahead of us in store,
graduation might leave us in tears

The loss of a good friend is hard, you see
but sometimes you just have to let things be.
