Life On the Floor
At supper time, I attempted something odd
Something I've never done before
I took my meal of stew and cod,
Then moved from my table to the floor.
As I relaxed on the hardwood ground,
An angelic tune from the wind I did hear
The song of the wind chimes made me feel proud
As the blessed tune drifted into my ears.
My attention was then snatched by my loyal pet
His abundance of brown fur brushing against my legs
I relinquished my meal, and our dear friendship was kept
And so he would not have to wait like a peasant and beg.
The company of my whiskered companion and the wind's melodious sound I adored
These I have now witnessed because of my time on the floor.
