Last Leaf
Once upon a midnight dreary,
a raven sweeping by,
carrying only the last leaf on a tree
to comfort his friend who died.
This last leaf was meant for power,
but only so an hour,
following the single pluck
of the leaf off the tree.
Should be used only once though.
One time used, second time gone.
The raven landing,
escaping the light of the moon.
Placing the leaf
on the partially vanished body,
life arose
and into the dim light they flew.
