I hear the stream flowing, the purest blue
The trees around take their pride as they grow
Trees far from the river always fall through
The stream brings many birds, all but a crow.

The stream heals hearts, no matter how broken
And it calms the mind, of the mad, and sick
The crystal stream speaks to the unspoken
When beside it, anger sinks like a brick

The stream brings life to the forsaken place
It heals and mends villages and people
It brings peace more then any sword or mace
It makes week men strong and the pride feeble

The river brings, life that will always last
When compared to death, it must contrast

The author's comments:
This was a class assignment, that required me to write a sonnet. I wrote it about the River because it is simple and calming, but is necessary for everything in nature.
