If the tale of Cupid’s arrows are true
Then I was once struck by a poison-tip.
I’ve tasted once the wine of love, a sip,
And become drunk in my quest to love you.
We were so young, our love was so new.
But years pass and love angers and it slips
And it curses and it strikes and it rips—
Until what remains are our hearts in two.
