A Sonnet for Math
I beg of you math, just leave me alone.
What did us humans ever do to you?
I don’t want to solve your problems, I have my own.
I can find the answer to two plus two.
Its math! Numbers and letters don’t mix!
Your Xs and Ys can stay variables.
These problems I’ll leave to the nerds to fix,
So we are not all stuck here until we are old.
But you tell me there are uses outside,
Everywhere there, outside in the real world,
And from the real world I just cannot hide,
So I will stay here, though I am bored.
Through all of the trouble and the brain-strain,
I realize that you, math, won’t help my pain
