A Sonnet to Darkness
Complete opposites, yet so much alike
Without the other, we'd not be living
At the end of each day, you take your strike
To stop the light that I've been giving
Still I await your frigid arrival
To see you before I depart again
The people expect we should be rivals
But in truth you are my only friend
And even though we've only ever met in dreams
In all of them we've danced amongst the stars
And kissed aside nebulous streams
Still, those dreams will forever remain ours
The feeling I get when I think of you
My secret love, I hope that I'm yours too
