Most 8th graders spend their time worrying about turning in assignments, making friends, and looking good but our main character, Mia, has to worry about so much more. In the realistic fiction book, A Mango-Shaped Space, by Wendy Mass, we follow our main character, Mia, who has a secret that she’s been keeping since 1st grade. Drama at school forces her to reveal that she has synesthesia where her letters have color and she can see sounds. In this book, we follow her journey of self-discovery and loss.

This was a very good book and it kept me entertained throughout the whole story. It had a delightful balance of plot points and story. Mass made it relatable, and I really felt involved with the characters. In summary, I think this was a spectacular book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a realistic fiction book that will really get you absorbed. I could not recommend this book enough.
