Daddy's Womb | Teen Ink

Daddy's Womb MAG

April 23, 2008
By Anonymous

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

I fell as if this comment is very unprofesional due to the fact that is it deep and touching like a girls naughty purse. When my kids view this innaporpriate comment. I don't want to have anything explaining to do. I fell as this is very neggative twards the lovely poem I have read. Thank you and good day sir.

The whole point of poetry is looking at the world from a different view. Contradictions contribute to poetry.

This is good! I don't understand all of it though, just because some of the lines seem to contradict each other. Still good though, keep writing!

At loss of words. Simply nothing to say about something this great!

Can someone read some of my work, rate and comment? especially my two attempts at poetry ("The Violinist" and "For What Have All These People Died?"), I need to know how some of my first tries went.
