Daddy's Womb MAG

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

"This too shall pass." and " When God leads to a cliff, jump, because He'll either catch you or teach you how to fly."

It's saying how a parent can tell you you can do anything and/or be anything but in the end they are the ones who try to hold you back be it for a reason like they aren't ready for you to go or selfish reasons.

"Let us remember as we chase our dreams into the stars that our first responsibility is to our Earth, to our children, to ourselves." -George W. Bush

This means to me that before we let ourselves fade, we must take care of ourselves and others.

er... imaginary, or imagery? sorry, I have a sick case of OCD.. hehe

its amazing your deep concept on life the grasp you have on it the view you see your poem in i dont know but in my minds eye as i read i saw a embodied adult ready to flee ready to become successful ready to be one on his own but as our ties to our parents emotional most causes us to linger around a bit.

I think drowning is a metaphor for all the things a father cautions his son about... if the steps too deep, he will be enslaved by the water, but at the same time the father becomes hypocrite about it when he takes out the chain to enslave his son and prevent him from flying away (metaphor for being an overprotective father)
