Daddy's Womb | Teen Ink

Daddy's Womb MAG

April 23, 2008
By Anonymous

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

I love how you build up your thoughts throughout the poem

I did not post those. I would like to know who did that and why they would do that. I definitely think there are better poems/pieces. I just like this one. So if you're going to steal my identity, at least get the facts right. I will report this if it happens again.

That's exactly what I was thinking when you were typing mean things about my opinion. I never said that you weren't allowed to "hate on this," but if you think about it, it's not the nicest thing to do. Also, I don't think it makes me or 1EmoKidd1 famous. And guess what? I am entitled to my opinion as well, and it shouldn't be jeopardized or changed either. It goes both ways. And by the way, I don't believe that someone stole your password. Since you have the same opinions as the person who stole it, then it doesn't matter anyway.

It doesnt make you famous, it makes you rude to break down someones opinion. I have my opinion and you have yours. Theres no point in this poem. What the heck is it even about? Being chained by your father? Thats plain creepy!!!!!!!!!! And btw all the comments other than the original, were not me. someone stole my password. and my opinion holds true because i belive this person shouldnt be so worshipped when all they did was write a creepy poem and some other poems have meaning, depth, and reason to be the best. SO dont break down my opinion just because you feel it makes you famous, because honeslty, how does breaking down my opinion on a writing website make you famous. At all. It doesnt. I am entitles to my own opinion that shouldnt be jeapordized or changed because of yours.

I am allowed to support it. And guess what? You can't tell me otherwise... Well, you can, but I don't have to listen. This website is all about providing feedback and supporting people's ideas and stories. That's what I'm doing. So to everyone who thinks I care way too much about this poem: Maybe I have a personal connection to this poem. So leave it be already. Get this: PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINIONS AND TRY TO GET A POINT ACROSS. It's the way the world works, and that's how it's always going to work. If you can't get used to it now, then you will in the future when you have a job. I'm truly sorry if I offended anyone, but I believe this poem is meaningful and from the heart.

I agree, 1EmoKidd1. And Bubblybubbles223, I can defend whoever I would like to defend. I believe this poem is worthy of defense. Yes, I actually have a life, unlike many others on this website. This is something I do in my spare time... And I am allowed to. So stop telling me otherwise.

This Is A GREAT Poem, What It Means To Me, is Probably Diffrent That Other People, But It Sends A Stron Message. So Stop Hating. Haters Make Us Famous =D

If you re-read my comment, I never said you couldn't have that opinion. I just said that you weren't very polite in the way you shared your opinion. At least the other people who didn't like it were polite about it.

on Feb. 14 2011 at 4:27 pm
well this is a dumb poem, seriously, and I can have that opinion if I want to.

Okay, I just wanted to get through to you. I failed on that mission! If you don't understand that, try understanding this: Fighting and heated debate are not the answer to anyone's problems. I just wanted to point out what I thought true in contrast to your statements. Then you twisted my words... But that doesn't matter. Why don't we just leave each other alone, since we can't seem to find harmony?

What do you mean, I can't name any? You never asked. & if you are concerned about what poems I find great on this site, feel free to click on my name & check out my list of favorites.

Also, I'm not being a mean person & bashing this poem. I'm just saying my opinion. & I disagree with what you said about most kids not feeling that way, because honestly every kid I know feels like their parents hold them back...or maybe that's just who I know. Whatever. Anyway, I was just saying my opinion; I have my thoughts & you have yours,  & I'm not trying to put down the author. I'm just being honest.

Yes, I agree. The author needed to hear that. And there are some severely insecure people on this website who actually enjoy hurting others mentally. It's sick, really.
