Daddy's Womb MAG

April 23, 2008
By Anonymous

i asked my father if i could swim,
and he said that i would drown.
The Sea would imprison me – he said
if my feet had left the ground.

So i walked out to the water,
and cried out – how ’bout now!
He said, a little bit further, Son,
and then you’ll leave the ground.

i stepped on sand then stone,
from hollow ground to sturdy.
The sky was at my level as I
gazed at the birdie.

The Sea brought me a new idea,
the urge to flee to the high.

i asked my Father if i could fly,
and he said, sure, Son – go try.

i jumped as high as i could.
Still, i landed on the ground.
i saw my Father pull on a chain,
then i knew that i was bound.

I'm pretty sure at least half of the comments on this poem are going to say what an amazing poem this is. the other half of the comments are going to be about what an amazing writer you are. I'm going to be the one comment to tell you what an amazing person you are. i don't know you, and i don't have to. Your poem speaks to me like i've known you my entire life. and no, im not crazy. i'm not trying to say that i understand you. i'm simply awknowledging that you're out there, and that you are incredible.

I loved the poem although you did not have very good grammar. I understood everything! You did an amazing job with the poem!

I think this poem is a little weird to me even though i understand it. I wonder where the poem takes place.
